Jennie Laws

(Begins at 40 Minutes 10 Seconds Into Show)

JennieLaws_05WEB

Jennie Laws, is a singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada, whose music makes me smile and gives life such positive vibes, because in this cruel world we need Jennie Laws music to lift our hearts. Blending several styles from jazz, rhythm and blues and hip hop to pure pop music, not pigeonholing her style – Jennie oozes an easy confidence to apply her freedom of artistic expression to fill every song with different strokes of her musical paint brush.

Con & Dec Cluskey “The Bachelors”

(Begins at 3 Hour 6 Minutes 50 Seconds Into Show)

Con & Dec

Con and Dec Cluskey along with John Stokes were The Bachelors, my favourite pop group in the 1960s and I wasn’t alone. The 3 lads came from Ireland- not Liverpool. They began as an instrumental act in 1958 playing harmonicas and called the Harmonichords but turned to singing after a tour of England in 1959. They signed to Decca Records in the U.K. and changed their name in 1962, then scored their first hit, “Charmaine”. Their biggest hit was “Diane” which went to number one in England and number ten in America in 1964. They continued to have a slew of hits right through Beatlemania and the Swingin’ 60’s and maintained the original group on the cabaret circuit until 1984. When thinking back to my early years in north London listening to the Bachelors on my radiogram – I wouldn’t trade them for the world!
