If I asked you about this particular wine, you'd be forgiven if you answered: "heck if I know - it's all Greek to me!" And indeed it is.
Peloponnesos is one of Greece's main wine regions. The Peloponnese produces one quarter of Greece's wines with about half of the country's vineyards. To the northeast is Athens and it's surrounded by water - the Aegean Sea to the right and the Ionian Sea to the left.
George Skouras was born in Argos, a city with a 3,000 year history and then popped off to France where he discovered the magic of winemaking. He picked up a degree in the subject from the University of Dijon and then returned triumphant to Greece, where he established his own winery in Pyrgela, a small village just outside Argos. In 1996 he completed a second winery in the small village of Gymno in the higher altitude region of Nemea, home to a 50 year |
